What is Asher?

Asher Student Foundation provides housing for young people who are students of Christian Science and who are enrolled in a degree or certificate program at a college, university, vocational school or professional training program. For nearly 60 years, Asher has offered spiritually supportive homes-away-from-home for Christian Science college students.

Living at an Asher House and participating in Asher-sponsored programs encourages adherence to the highest standards of conduct as well as personal achievement. Asher is not, however, a cloistered environment. As one student explained:

"Asher is a home base - a starting point. It's a place where the individual can study and apply Christian Science and then go out into the academic world to share what has been learned."

Asher Student Foundation Purpose:

The purpose of Asher Student Foundation is to serve the cause of Christian Science by providing services to students pursuing educational growth in accredited colleges and universities, or in certificate programs.

Asher Student Foundation works to achieve this goal by:

1.	Maintaining residences in accordance with the standards of Christian Science for students attending a college, university, vocational, or professional training school by owning or leasing property for student houses.
2.	Seeking appropriate ways to support Christian Science Organizations (CSO) and other activities identified in the Manual of the Mother Church.
3.	Providing career services by connecting Asher residents with professionals who are experienced in the students’ fields of study for mentoring.
