About Asher House Los Angeles
Asher House Los Angeles is located in Westwood Village, an upscale community of fine homes, hotels, restaurants, shops and movie theaters, within walking distance of the UCLA campus, 28th Church of Christ, Scientist, and the UCLA Christian Science Organization.

SCHOOLS SERVED: Asher House Los Angeles residents are able to attend any of the fine schools and universities located in the Los Angeles area. We are within commuting distance of UCLA, USC, Pepperdine University, Santa Monica College, California State University, Northridge, West Los Angeles College, American InterContinental University (formerly American College of Applied Arts), Southern California Institute of Architecture, and more. For transportation to campuses other than UCLA, a car is recommended.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants for residence must be students of Christian Science, and regularly attend a Christian Science Church, Sunday School, or Christian Science College Organization. They must be a member or applicant for membership in The Mother Church, a branch church or society, or a Christian Science Organization. They must be enrolled at an accredited college, university or trade school, and working towards a degree or certificate.

THE LAYOUT: Asher House Los Angeles consists of three buildings. The front building includes the House Manager's quarters, the living room (with grand piano), the dining room, kitchen, TV room with VCR and cable, a guest room, and the Board Room. There is a computer with printer available for the residents' use, as well as a fax machine and copy machine. The other two buildings are the residents' living areas, consisting of small living rooms, shower/ bathrooms, and bedrooms. A beautiful garden courtyard connects all the buildings.

Asher LA has been brought into the new millennium with high speed internet access by way of an Ethernet Port and a DSL Uplink. Each room is now wired with a Fast Ethernet port providing a high speed network in the House as well as shared access to Asher LA's high speed DSL uplink to the internet. This project was initiated by the students and approved by the Board. As we all know, the internet is a vital research tool for today's students and a lot of course work is even available online. Today's student no longer needs to sacrifice the unique Asher experience for cutting-edge technology.

PARKING: Off street parking is available at $25.00 per month in front of our building.

BEDROOMS: Each bedroom is supplied with bunk beds, desks, drawers, closets and chests. One desk drawer is set up for hanging folders. You will need to bring a mattress pad, pillow, sheets and other bedding. NOTE: The beds are extra-long twins. You also need to provide your own towels, soap and other toiletries.

PHONES: Each room has its own telephone line. Some phones are available, but most residents supply their own. You may want to bring an answering machine as well. Utilities are included in the monthly fee, but telephone service is not.

LAUNDRY: A coin-operated washer and dryer are located in the front house. A roll of quarters will come in handy.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Residents are expected to take responsibility for cleaning up after themselves and to help keep the House neat and tidy. We have a maid who cleans the common areas and bathrooms, but residents are responsible for their own rooms. They also take turns on kitchen crews cleaning up after meals. There may be occasional work parties for special tasks.

GUEST POLICY: Residents are welcome to have family members and friends stay at Asher House Los Angeles, subject to the following conditions: Guests may visit in resident's rooms from 10 AM. to 12 midnight on weekdays, including Sunday, and from 10 AM to 2 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Living rooms and the front house are open at all times, but courtesy to other residents and the House Manager should be kept in mind. Residents may have four free overnight guests per quarter; there will be a $5/per night charge thereafter. Guests of the opposite sex will be provided a room in the appropriate section of the house.

A guest room is available for those attending Associations and other occasions. Reservations must be made in advance. There is a modest charge for this room.
