We share our block with several other religious ministries serving the student population, and all are surrounded by UW-Madison campus buildings. It is a short walk to the grand Memorial Student Union, where you can sit on the patio watching the sailboats - or ice boats -on beautiful Lake Mendota, the largest of Madison's lakes. We are close to major bus routes, including the free campus bus. Other schools in the area include Edgewood College and Madison Area Technical College. The CSO building was designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright and built in the late 1970's. The second floor residence can welcome up to 14 students in 7 single or double rooms. The furnished rooms each have a loft for separate sleeping/study areas. Residents are responsible for their own food and meals, but sharing meal prep is more fun. The residents enjoy free laundry facilities, cable TV and movies in the TV lounge, wireless internet access, house phones for local calls, and secure bike storage. The main floor includes multi-use rooms, office space, and a Christian Science library for resident, CSO and Foundation use. Garage parking below the building is generally available for an extra fee. If you are a student or parent and are considering UW-Madison, we invite you to be our guest for a campus visit. The Student Center Foundation offers some financial assistance for Asher residence fees. The Foundation also manages the H. Gladys Swope Educational Fund, which provides low-cost loans for students attending a UW school. You need not be an Asher resident to qualify for a Swope loan. The Foundation Administrator can provide more information on these programs. Please call 608/256-1389 or email madison@asherhouse.org. |
